Vineyard & Winery Earthworks in the Barossa Valley, SA

Winery Development Services

Winery and vineyard sites carry a different set of pressures to a standard commercial job, vintage timing, vehicle movements during harvest, and civil works that have to fit around a working property rather than an empty block. The Barossa is one of Australia’s most significant wine regions, and Total Earthworx has delivered earthworks for its wineries and vineyards for nearly three decades, from site development and drainage through to the carparks, roadways and retaining structures that keep a property running once the work is done.

Our Winery & Vineyard Earthworks Services:

  • Roadways & Carparks

  • Winery Development Services | Barossa Valley, SA

We work with you to come up with the very best solutions for your challenges!

01

Site Development & Excavation

Excavation, footings and concrete preparation for cellar door buildings, sheds and other winery infrastructure, cut and prepared to the levels your build needs.

02

Roadways & Carparks

Roadways, carparks and bitumen and concrete surfacing sized for vintage traffic, trucks, tractors and visitor vehicles, plus guard rails and line-marking so the finished site is safe and easy to navigate.

03

Drainage & Site Services

Storm-water pipe installation, pump chambers and trade waste and utility installation, so the property’s drainage and services are sorted as part of the same job rather than a separate contractor down the track.

04

Retaining Walls

Engineered retaining walls for sloped vineyard blocks and terraced sites, built to hold up under Barossa conditions.

05

Demolition

Removal of ageing infrastructure, tanks, sheds and hardstands on operating winery sites, timed around vintage. See our full demolition services for scope and approach.

As civil contractors, we also cover trenching, water and utility installation, and general earthmoving as part of the same winery scope, see:

How We Plan Around Your Vintage

  • Tell us your timing, Vintage dates, harvest windows and vehicle movements you need the site works to avoid.
  • Scope & fixed quote, We assess the site and quote against the actual scope, earthworks, drainage, roadworks or a combination.
  • Scheduled around your calendar, Works are sequenced to fit your operating season, not the other way round.
  • Handover, ready to run, Site handed back cleared, compacted and ready, carparks, roads and drainage doing their job before the next harvest.

Who We Work With

  • Winery owners: site development, drainage and infrastructure works on operating properties.
  • Viticulture developers: new vineyard block preparation, access roads and site infrastructure.
  • Property managers: ongoing site works and emergency repairs, backed by our 24/7 call-out service.

FAQs

  • What earthworks do you carry out for wineries?

Site development and excavation, roadways and carparks, drainage and stormwater, retaining walls, and demolition of ageing infrastructure, usually as one continuous scope rather than separate contractors for each part.

  • Can you work around vintage and harvest timing?

Yes. Winery sites are working properties, so we plan around vehicle movements, harvest timing and what’s operating on site rather than treating it like an empty block.

  • Do you handle drainage and utilities as well as roadworks?

Yes. Storm-water pipe installation, pump chambers and trade waste and utility installation are part of our winery scope, alongside roadways, carparks and site development.

  • Can you remove old buildings or infrastructure before starting new works?

Yes, see our demolition services for scope. It’s common for older winery infrastructure to come down before new site works go in, and we can deliver both under one engagement.

  • Do you only work on large commercial wineries, or smaller vineyard properties too?

Both. The scope ranges from single-block vineyard preparation and access roads through to full commercial winery site development, we assess and quote against the actual job either way.

  • How far in advance should we book site works before vintage?

The earlier the better, especially for larger scopes like roadways or drainage. Tell us your vintage dates as soon as you have them and we’ll work backwards from there to schedule the job.
